Having dedicated his career to the fields of health, program management and law, Dr. Coblentz has held numerous positions in law enforcement, public health, financial and medical audits and administrative and management services. Prior to embarking upon his professional journey, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Latin American studies from California State University Los Angeles in 1973 and a Master of Public Administration specializing in Health Care Services Administration from the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles in 1976.
Dr. Coblentz worked full time while earning his degrees. In 1968 through 1973 he worked for Health Planning Association which later became Southern California Comprehensive Health Planning Council. After graduating with his bachelor's degree Dr. Coblentz became a Special Agent for the Bureau of Investigation (IBI) for the State of Illinois. While there, some of his assignments were providing security for the Illinois Governor's wife on her trip to Puerto Rico and security for Prince Charles of England during his stay in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Coblentz was acknowledged and commended for his outstanding work including the largest seizure by the IBI in the Midwestern states. He returned to California to attend USC and worked as an Environmental Services Supervisor at the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles while pursuing his master's degree in 1975.
In his private career, Dr. Coblentz worked for the State of California in various departments such as the PHRED project, Attorney General's Office, California Department of Alcohol Drug Programs and the California Department of Health Care Services with the goal of helping the government save an inordinate amount of money and provide opportunities for individuals to enjoy a better life and future. He gave seminars and presentations on high blood pressure and other programs at the University of California in Los Angeles. During this time he was appointed a Warrant Officer I for the California State Military Reserve, awarded a Resolution of the Board of Supervisors of Ventura County and received and Diploma Superior de Espanol from the Universidad de Salamanca, Spain. Dr. Coblentz is fully bilingual Spanish/English. Dr. Coblentz was also given a letter of praise from the Office of President Bill Clinton for his work in saving the United States government millions of dollars in health care costs.
Looking to further his education and transition to a law career, Mr. Coblentz attained a Juris Doctor Degree from American University College of Law in 1983. He began working as an Assistant Investigator for the Los Angeles County Superior Court in 1984. The next year, he started as the Executive Director for the Law Offices of Steven Unger until 1991. He then went on to establish his own company, Coblentz and Associates, Inc. To further his expertise, Dr. Coblentz earned another Master of Public Administration from the Universidad de Costa Rica (UCR) in San Jose, Costa Rica in 1997. In 2002, Dr. Coblentz began working as an Adjudication Officer for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and holds a diploma as an Adjudication Officer from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Academy specializing in Immigration Law. In 2005, he became the Chief Executive Officer and Director of Northwest Administrative Services. Dr. Coblentz is now retired and happy with his wife, three daughters and two grandchildren.
Among his most notable achievements, Dr. Coblentz is particularly proud of all law enforcement and recognitions noted above. The financial and medical audits on hospitals, pharmacies and findings of disallowances in Medicaid administrative claiming that was recognized by the office of President Clinton and the Department of Health and Human Services. Also, the successful training and job placement for 200 bilingual lower income participants in various entry level health care fields in Southern California for the California Office of State Health Wide Planning.
For the past seventeen years, Dr. Coblentz developed an interest in genetics and genealogy. In 2020 he published his first genealogy book, Coblentz Cousins in America, and is finishing his second book to be published in 2022. He is also a manager of a Facebook DNA Cousins/Primos-Genealogia, a private group, dedicated to genealogy assistance to other members and has successfully united family that did not know each other, and found unknown biological parents.
Dr. Coblentz has been fortunate to have met and realized good relationships with significant people that have made a difference and enriched his life.
