ANKENY, IA, July 07, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Bob S. Sledge has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Mr. Sledge is recognized as a Tae Kwon Do Grandmaster who has more than three decades of experience as a martial arts expert and instructor. After teaching the families for the Ankeny Community School District in Ankeny, Iowa, for 25 years, he handed the class over to his senior black belt Nick Hass while he continued his training under Grandmaster Don Wells at Martial Arts America. When Mr. Wells was ready to retire in 2014, Mr. Sledge with the support of his family purchased the school.
As the owner he oversees a full time school and 8 branch locations. Mr. Sledge teaches students from ages pre-k through adult, including advanced black belt classes twice per week, and trains aspiring instructors. As a certified instructor of Krav Maga, which includes practical self-defense techniques derived from the Israeli defense forces, he offers the program to students ages 16 and up. Additionally, Mr. Sledge offers self defense seminars which can be specifically designed for teen and adult females. The course is broken down to teach awareness and effective techniques to repel attackers.
Aside from his teaching responsibilities, Mr. Sledge oversees the daily operations of all full time and part time schools. He is also responsible for coordinating ongoing tournaments for his students and Mr. Sledge also volunteers his time as a Tae Kwon Do tournament judge.
Mr. Sledge first joined the Tae Kwon Do community in 1986 under the tutelage of Master Wells, Master Eric Heinz, Ms. Kaye Bair and Grandmaster Jung Woo Jin. Over the years, he has been the recipient of numerous first, second and third place medals across various divisions. Looking forward to future years of success as both an instructor and business owner, Mr. Sledge enjoys offering a variety of classes to students and helping them become more self-confident, disciplined and well-rounded individuals.
Known for his contributions as a civic-minded citizen, Mr. Sledge is involved with various outreach programs that support children in need, in addition to donating to a local hospice. To commemorate his accomplishments, he was named as the Instructor of the Year by TaeKwonDo Times in 2016 and was subsequently featured on the cover of TaeKwonDo Times in 2018.
