Dr. Reeves was named Coach of the Year in various conferences and has been inducted into the New Jersey Soccer Hall of Fame.

Having 50 years of experience in his field, Dr. John Reeves has enjoyed a prosperous career educating students in physical education and athletics. He coached soccer at Bloomfield College and Drew University in New Jersey for a collective 19 years accumulating a record of 172 wins, 84 losses and 24 ties. While a soccer coach, his teams often were selected to play in post-season competition and Dr. Reeves was named Coach of the Year in various conferences. Dr. Reeves has been inducted into the New Jersey Soccer Hall of Fame.
After serving at Drew University as a soccer coach, athletics director and as a full professor in physical education, he took a position as Director of Sports and Recreation at the University of Rochester where he served for four years. Among his significant accomplishments at Rochester was his role in the formation of the University Athletic Association, an athletic conference whose members include nine private major research universities. Dr. Reeves subsequently moved on to the State University of New York at Stony Brook where he served as a full professor and Director of the Division of Physical Education and Athletics. During his time at Stony Brook he oversaw the opening of a major sports complex and started the process by which the athletics program moved from NCAA division 111 to Division 1. After four years at Stony Brook he moved on to Columbia University in New York as Director of Athletics where he served for 14 years until his retirement in 2004. Two years following his retirement from Columbia he accepted the position of Commissioner of the newly formed Landmark Conference, a position he held until 2012.
Prior to beginning his professional career, Dr. Reeves cultivated his own education, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Physical Education at the Panzer School of Physical Education and Hygiene at Montclair State University where he graduated summa cum laude and received the prestigious Tucker Jones Medal for Professional Excellence. He later attended the Pennsylvania State University where he served as a graduate assistant and earned his Master of Science degree. Later while working full time Dr. Reeves completed the requirements for the Doctor of Education degree at Columbia University. In addition to his educational credentials, Dr. Reeves is also a member of several industry-related organizations including the Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, and the Intercollegiate Soccer Association of America, where he served a term as President. Likewise known for his contributions as a civic-minded citizen, Dr. Reeves was a long time volunteer for the American Red Cross and his community recreation department. Most recently Dr. Reeves has served as a volunteer at his community church thrift shop.
Throughout his extensive career, Dr. Reeves consistently aimed to provide for the highest quality of programming possible in education and athletics administration, believing in the importance of character, integrity and honesty in such fields. Dr. Reeves along with a coaching colleague has published three books: The Coaches Collection of Soccer Drills, Practice Games for Winning Soccer, and Soccer Restart Plays. He is most proud to have coached the soccer team at Drew University, during his first year with the team, to an undefeated season and a third place finish in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.
