Drawing on over two decades of expertise in the academic field, Ms. Doucet specializes in English, Latin and history education. Prior to embarking on her professional journey, she pursued an education at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, formerly known as Northeast Louisiana University, where she obtained a bachelor's degree in education in 1996. As a commitment to her field, Ms. Doucet has been certified as a curriculum developer and a writer for teenagers and young adults by the Institute of Children's Literature.
Ms. Doucet taught in various schools in Louisiana and Texas for 17 years. She then joined David Thibodeaux STEM Magnet Academy for three years before coming to Lafayette Christian Academy, where she is starting her 27th year of teaching. In this capacity, she is responsible for managing a classroom, teaching advanced placement classes, leading the English department, assisting teachers in their departments when necessary and participating in competitions, among other duties.
Well regarded for her contributions to the field, Ms. Doucet has received multiple awards, including the Educator of Distinction award from the National Society of High School Scholars, an inclusion with Who's Who Among American High School Teachers, and nominations for the Teacher of the Year award and the Disney's Creative Teacher of the Year award.
Long dedicated to civic advocacy, Ms. Doucet has volunteered her time and services to the Catholic Charities of Acadiana, as well as the Pregnancy and Crisis Center. Among her professional accomplishments, she is most proud to have been nominated for all of her accolades by her students, and to have made an impact on them academically and personally.
Ms. Doucet attributes much of her success to the people she met along her professional journey, including her teachers, administrators and students, who have supported and inspired her every step of the way, as well as to her family and to her Christian faith. Looking toward the future, she aspires to further expand the scope of the school's academic potential in her capacity as a curriculum developer.
