Committed to preserving and improving the environment, Mr. Chester has found success as a dedicated attorney and executive for more than 35 years. To prepare for his career, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Brown University in 1970 and a Master of Education from Tufts University in 1972. While pursuing his education, he began his career in various tutoring in teaching positions in 1970. Following his graduation, he became a partner for Steam-A-Way in 1973, and later served as the director of research for the Illinois Manufacturing Association, where he was promoted to the role of directory of energy and environmental programs. In 1980, Mr. Chester continued his career at Pepsi-Cola General Bottlers (which was partly owned by the Pepsi-Cola Company and eventually became a part of the Pepsi Cola Company) where he served as the director and vice president of public affairs.
Since 1999, Mr. Chester has distinguished himself as the owner of Capparelli and Chester. He also serves as an attorney in private practice. To further his expertise in law, he attained a Juris Doctor from the Illinois Institute of Technology in 2004 and was admitted to the Illinois Bar Association and the United States District Court Bar Association.
In recognition of his expertise, Mr. Chester was honored with a Mediation Award from the Illinois Institute of Technology. He was also presented with a Chairman's Award while working for Pepsi-Cola General Bottlers in 1999, having served as the chairman of the state advisory task force for the National Soft Drink Association in 1992 and as the president of the Illinois Soft Drink Association in 1990.
Likewise dedicated to civic advocacy, Mr. Chester is the founder of Keep Chicago Beautiful and a member of the O'Hare Noise Compatibility Commission and its Fly Quiet Committee. In 2015 and again in 2019, Mr. Chester was elected an alderman in the city of Des Plaines, Illinois where he has served as Chair of the Finance and Community Development Committees. He has also occupied leadership roles with Illinois Project Liability, Illinois Clean and Beautiful, Chicago Clean Streak and Executive Committee Project Leap, among others. Additionally, Mr. Chester served as a task force member of the Illinois Department of Energy and Natural Resources in 1992. For his commitment to improving his local environment, he was honored with a National Community Service Award in 2012.
In addition to his main career, Mr. Chester has also authored numerous books, which he intends to gain representation for by a major publisher in the near future. Having led a successful career, his most integral skill has been learning how to listen effectively, adapting himself to other points of view. His ability to see from others' perspectives leads him to better decisions, and he will continue to develop this skill.
