After serving in the United States Air Force as a senior master sergeant between 1955 and 1977, Mr. Byer was selected to the role of program director for the United States Agency for International Development's Regional Development Training through the Barbados Institute of Management and Productivity (BIMAP) and the University of the West Indies to identify certain negative business practices regarding human resources, marketing and finance.
Over the years, Mr. Byer has gained valuable expertise in the field of human resources as a manager for the Statue of Liberty National Monument and as an administrative officer for the Bronx VA Medical Center. Drawing on his considerable knowledge, he presently excels as the director of Byer Tax Service, where he has worked for the last 20 years. In order to remain aware of industry changes, Mr. Byer aligns himself with the National Federation of Federal Employees, the National Association of Uniformed Services, the Air Force Sergeants Association and the American Legion.
An expert in his field, Mr. Byer earned a master's degree in human resources from Brooklyn College in 1983, as well as a postgraduate degree in executive programs and international management from Columbia University in 1986. In light of his outstanding body of work, he received an Air Force Commendation Medal for Outstanding Service through the United States Air Force, and a Citation for his work from Michaelle C. Solages of the New York State Assembly's 22nd District.
While his career has been filled with highlights, Mr. Byer is most proud of his 40-year career in the field of human resources and of his 20 years of service in the United States Air Force. Looking back, he credits much of his success to seeking out areas for improvement. Looking toward the future, Mr. Byer intends to continue serving with Byer Tax Service, through which he aims to specialize in out-of-state taxes.
