Passionate about protecting and serving his community, Mr. Guarino has been a dedicated law enforcement officer for more than 40 years, operating with professionalism, integrity and honesty. Inspired by his father, who was a World War II veteran, and his mother, who worked for the Department of Defense, he grew up with a strong sense of patriotism. He gained a sense of duty over the years, and wanted to serve as an agent of justice to improve the world. Prior to embarking upon his professional journey, he earned a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice from Moravian University in 1980. He subsequently attained a Master of Arts in criminal justice and urban studies from William Paterson University in 1984 and completed coursework at the Special Agent Training Academy in 1985.
While pursuing his education, Mr. Guarino began his career as a police officer for the Essex County Police Department in 1980 and was soon promoted to a detective in 1983. He continued his career as an operational DEA special agent for the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration in 1985 until becoming an assistant special agent-in-charge for the enforcement division of the White House liaison of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration in 2002. Following this period, he was a special agent-in-charge and regional director for the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration from 2013 to 2015.
Over the course of his career, Mr. Guarino has been honored with numerous Outstanding Achievement Awards for performance as a federal agent with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. He received numerous civic awards and multiple Outstanding Investigator Awards, and was presented with a Group Administrator's Award twice in recognition for his excellent service.
Since 2019, Mr. Guarino has been the principal and chief operating officer for The MPM Group, Inc., a firm specializing in litigation support and security consulting services. His expertise lies in all areas of private investigation, and he utilizes his experiences with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration in cases related to high-level international cocaine smuggling.
Committed to serving his community as a civic advocate, Mr. Guarino is an active volunteer with the youth group at his local church and is involved in a mentoring initiative with Moravian University alumni to help student athletes in the community prepare for employment. He helps them craft their resumes and LinkedIn accounts, while assisting them in securing gainful employment.
