Supported by years of expertise in land use, data entry, insurance and more, Mr. Jiménez-Vélez has served as a planner for the Puerto Rican Planning Board for more than three decades. Since joining the board, he has analyzed land use zoning policies, codes and territorial plans for municipalities and worked with the 249th Engineer Battalion of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers regarding the assessment of Puerto Rican power plants. Likewise, Mr. Jiménez-Vélez served as an assistant to the chair of the board, and assisted with two municipality proposals for FEMA grantees.
During the early stages of his career, Mr. Jiménez-Vélez worked as an inter-agency coordinator for the Puerto Rican Emergency Management Bureau, and honed his expertise in the data entry and endorsement aspects of an insurance company. A licensed geographer and planner in Puerto Rico, he holds a bachelor's degree in geography from the University of Puerto Rico, through which he also received a Master of Science in planning. Outside of his work, Mr. Jiménez-Vélez conducts assessments for municipalities in a pro bono capacity, and manages their proposals with the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
Though his career has been filled with highlights, Mr. Jiménez-Vélez is most proud to have been named as an assistant to the chairman of the Puerto Rican Planning Board, collaborating with the Climate Change Council in Puerto Rico and co-authoring several policies that have been implemented to benefit the country's residents. Looking toward the future, he aims to continue serving as a good government employee and outstanding citizen for the people of Puerto Rico.
