For more than five years, Ms. Ameyaw has earned distinction as the Director of Municipal Dealer Sales at Raymond James Financial Inc., a financial services organization. Promoted to her role in 2021, she works on the trading floor of the firm's Saint Petersburg, Florida location. In this capacity, she is responsible for serving as a trading liaison between the firm's municipal department and other brokers/dealers throughout the U.S. Originally hired in 2016 as a Senior Associate of the Economic Sanctions team in the Financial Crimes Management department, Ms. Ameyaw quickly rose to become the Manager for the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and Anti-Bribery/Anti-Corruption (ABAC) program in 2016, Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Officer and Liaison in 2017, and the Director of Internal Audit in 2018.
Passionate about diversity, equity and inclusion, she was subsequently elected to serve as the Co-Chair of the firm's National Veterans Inclusion Network (VALOR). Attributing her success to her willingness to heed the advice of senior-level officials at the firm, Ms. Ameyaw is most proud to have risen to her current role despite having no formal education or training in business administration or trading.
Prior to joining Raymond James, Ms. Ameyaw functioned as a Business Analyst and Reporting Specialist in the Global Financial Crimes Compliance AML Alerts Reconciliation at JPMorgan Chase & Company in Florida from 2015 to 2016. She also served as an International Aide for the United Nations while pursuing her undergraduate studies. Most notably, Ms. Ameyaw is a highly decorated U.S. Army veteran who served as an Acting First Sergeant and Platoon Sergeant of an elite and selectively manned airborne unit with a focus on multi-level intelligence and signal operations between 2003 and 2019 (17 years of service). Ms. Ameyaw's dedication in her military career has yielded her several awards, including but not limited to, two Bronze Star Medals and a Meritorious Service Medal. Permitted to retire three years early after suffering combat injuries in Afghanistan, she initially joined the military upon graduating from high school at the age of 17 in response to the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001.
Actively involved in various civic and philanthropic activities, Ms. Ameyaw is currently the President of the Board of Directors of Girls Inc. of Pinellas (children and education) and a member of the Bayfront Health St. Pete Foundation philanthropic council (health and community). She also serves on the Board of Directors of 22Zero Inc. (veterans support), serves on the Board of Directors of the Florida Municipal Bond Club (professional/industry fellowship), and is a member of the Legislative Committee of the St. Petersburg chapter of the Business and Professional Women (BPW) (advocacy and empowerment). Furthermore, Ms. Ameyaw has been instrumental as an InvestIt Forward and InvestWrite volunteer with the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA) Foundation.
Born in Ghana and raised in Italy, Ms. Ameyaw is proficient in six languages. She later studied at Northeastern University, where she achieved a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and International Affairs, with a concentration in Comparative and International Politics in 2008. She subsequently attended American Military University, where she earned a Master of Arts in Intelligence Studies and Strategic Operations in 2014. Well qualified in her field, Ms. Ameyaw received certification as an AML specialist through the Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists (ACAMS) in 2017 and received her Series 63 and Series 52 certifications and a Securities Industry Essentials certification through the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) in 2021.
