Born in the rural United States to a large family, Mr. Shaw began his career as a cryptologic linguist for the U.S. Department of the Navy, where he worked from 1992 until 1996. He subsequently joined MICOA in 1996 as a workers' compensation claim representative and worked in a similar senior role for Cunningham Lindsey between 1997 and 2000. Following these appointments, he gained valuable expertise in the insurance industry with TransPaC Solutions, AIK Comp and Kindred Healthcare. Between 2005 and 2017, Mr. Shaw also served as a claims executive for The Hartford, through which he managed contract relationships between the company, its self-insured clients and third-party administrators, and ensured timely and accurate data reporting and regulatory compliance.
During his time with The Hartford, Mr. Shaw earned a bachelor's degree in English literature from Pennsylvania State University in 2009, as well as a Master of Business Administration from Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania in 2015. Likewise, he completed a Juris Doctor at the Louis D. Brandeis School of Law at the University of Louisville while working as an attorney for the Department of Child Services and Shaw & Associates, PLLC. Additionally, Mr. Shaw presently excels as principal attorney and chief executive officer of the Law Office of A. Lee Shaw, PLLC, where he specializes in estate planning and business law.
A licensed attorney in Kentucky and Indiana, Mr. Shaw aligns himself with several organizations, including Pi Kappa Phi, the Kentucky Justice Association, the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and the Louisville, Kentucky, Indianapolis, Indiana and American Bar Associations. Long dedicated to civic advocacy, Mr. Shaw contributes to his community through the 550 Clinic, an HIV-positive outreach clinic, and as co-founder of Tristate Elder Law, where he works with a colleague to provide free and reduced legal services for the elderly.
In a career filled with highlights, Mr. Shaw is most proud of balancing his career and family life. Looking toward the future, Mr. Shaw intends to establish an additional office in Cincinnati.
