JUPITER, FL, July 27, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Sandra Kaye English has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Having taught kindergarten through college in both public and private schools and GED for almost 50 years, Mrs. English's motto of, "Work hard, be nice!", was key to all age groups. What she has learned from her students is that you never know who is watching, and you never know the effect of a simple gesture or kind word, both of which are free.
Retiring in 2019 from teaching full time, Mrs. English was a Florida High Impact Teacher, a graduate of the Florida High Impact Teaching Corps, recipient of My Teacher My Hero Reading Teacher of the Year Award, and the Dwyer Award winner in Special Programs honoring Outstanding Educators.
Her most impressive and heartfelt work was done the last years of her career at Riviera Beach Preparatory and Achievement Academy as an Intensive Reading teacher. Previously only 16% of the graduating seniors passed the reading requirement to earn a standard diploma. This percentage rose to 53% her first year, 73% the next, and then 80%. Her program was built on vocabulary immersion, reading strategies, test taking tips, intensive ACT, SAT, and FSA Boot Camps, and the building of self-esteem through love and acceptance.

She has also been active in Good Shepherd Episcopal Church over the past 30 years as the head of ECW, lay reader, usher, server of Meals on Wheels, and supporter of the Food Pantry.
Ms. English graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education, followed by a Master's Degree in Education as a Reading Specialist at Westminster College in New Wilmington, PA, graduating both cum laude.
Continuing her love of reading and passion for literacy, her son, Greg, built a Little Free Library for her front yard. It was one of seven showcased on Good Morning America. Her latest achievement is most personal – teaching her 3-year-old grandson, Niko, to read!
