Marquis Who's Who Recognizes Alison G. Smith for Expertise in Law

    WASHINGTON, DC, August 01, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Alison G. Smith has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Ms. Smith graduated from law school and began her career as a law clerk for the Office of Administrative Judges, U.S. Department of Labor, in Washington, D.C. In this capacity, she has garnered experience assisting the administrative law judge at hearings and drafting decisions for black lung and various immigration and whistleblower protection statute cases. Additionally, Ms. Smith spends time drafting legal documents on behalf of the judge and communicating with attorneys and pro se litigants.

Once she decided to pursue a law degree, Ms. Smith became interested in regulation policy and how it affected people in the labor market, employment and health sectors. She also became involved in public interest work at her law school and completed several internships and practicums. Looking toward the future, Ms. Smith hopes to earn a position at the Solicitors Office at the Department of Labor or a similar department specializing in regulatory policies.

To prepare for her career, Ms. Smith earned a Bachelor of Arts in sociology at Muhlenberg College in 2017, followed by a Doctor of Jurisprudence at the Georgetown University Law Center in 2020. While pursuing her law degree, she notably served as the managing editor of The Georgetown Journal of Gender and the Law between 2019 and 2020. Additionally, Ms. Smith earned certification in the Emerging Identities in North Africa program at the School for International Training. She formerly served as a volunteer English teacher for Club Kindergarten in La Marsa, Tunisia, in 2016, where she specialized in grammar and vocabulary. She has also been admitted to practice by the Oregon Bar Association.

As a part of her professional commitments, Ms. Smith is an active member of the American Bar Association, the Oregon State Bar Association and the Lawyer-Pilots Bar Association. In 2021, she was recognized with a Third Place Award by the northwest regional chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing's music theater competition. Ms. Smith previously received an Espie Guinto Young Writer's Award at Muhlenberg College in 2016.
