While pursuing her education, she began her career as an interior artist for Artful Interior Finishing, where she continued until 2021. Towards the end of her tenure there, she became the principal designer for her own company, Virginia DesRoches Design, in 2019, which she rebranded as Ironwood Studio in 2021.
As the leader of Ironwood Studio, Ms. DesRoches conducts her business with a commitment to ethical fortitude, choosing projects and the families where she can be of the greatest assistance, acting on behalf of clients to help them make decisions on renovations and guide them throughout the entire process. Out of her passion for the home renovation industry, is also a member of the Rhode Island Builders Association. Likewise dedicated to civic advocacy, Ms. DesRoches is a consistent donor in her community, giving service or gift certificates to clients and donating custom handcrafted designs to be raffled for charities. Ms. DesRoches visited the shop on several occasions and worked directly with the students on demonstrating some decorative painting techniques and discussed her experience in the field. The class also took a field trip to her commercial projects where her team was renovating a local venue so they could experience the transformation in process.
Ms. DesRoches is always working to showcase and promote her business through networking and social media to reach and communicate with ideal clients. She intends to continue to expand the business and open a retail store with a wood shop so they can serve their clients on a more conventional level, offering a singular location where custom-designed products can be purchased.
