With more than 45 years of excellence in dentistry, Dr. Knepper is dedicated to providing compassionate care through his practice. To prepare for his career in healthcare, he earned a Doctor of Dental Surgery from Columbia University in 1974. Well qualified in his field, he holds a certificate in periodontics from Columbia University and is board certified by the American Board of Periodontology.
Following the conclusion of his academic efforts, Dr. Knepper established his private practice, Robert M. Knepper, DDS, in 1981. Understanding that dental procedures can be stressful for patients, he utilizes intravenous sedation and pharmacology to reduce the patient's fear and anxiety both before and during a procedure. In addition to his main career as a periodontist, Dr. Knepper helped to guide the next generation of dentistry professionals as an assistant clinical professor of dentistry and periodontics at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine, where he has taught for over 30 years.
In recognition of his expertise in teaching, Dr. Knepper was honored with a Certificate of Appreciation for Teaching Excellence by the Columbia University College of Dental Medicine. He also received an award for his work in pharmacology from the university. Additionally, he is a member of the American Academy of Periodontology and the American Dental Association.
Outside of his primary endeavors, Dr. Knepper creates oil paintings in his spare time, and has displayed his artwork in several different galleries throughout his artistic career. As part of his dedication to improving his craft, he is a member of the National Art League. Looking toward the future, he intends to spend more time pursuing his love for painting and perfecting his tennis game. He also plans to spend more time with his family, particularly his grandchildren, in retirement.
