He continued his academic efforts at Northwest Missouri State University, earning his first master's degree in his specialty. He then proceeded to Southern Illinois University where he obtained his second master's degree in Rehabilitation Administration and Services. As a commitment to his field, Mr. Ajuoga is a licensed psychotherapist and has been active with several industry-related organizations, including the American Counseling Association and the Nebraska Counseling Association.
Mr. Ajuoga began his career serving as a professor at Bellevue University in Nebraska for 6 years. He subsequently garnered expertise as a professor at Iowa Western Community College for four years, and as a professor at Creighton University. Additionally, he has found much success as a psychotherapist and owner of Trauma and Cultural Counseling for Immigrants and Refugees (TCCIR). In this capacity, he is responsible for counseling traumatized refugees in America, who flee from their country because of war, political instability or various disasters. Moreover, Mr. Ajuoga specializes in post-traumatic stress disorder, cultural issues, substance abuse, digital addiction, teen suicide ideation, domestic violence, early childhood trauma and more.
Well regarded for his contributions to the field, Mr. Ajuoga has received multiple awards, including the Distinguished Faculty Award from Creighton University in 2022, the Gershom Award for Outstanding Immigrant Community Service in 2007, and an inclusion with the Heritage Registry of Who's Who 2006 to 2007 edition, to only name a few. Long dedicated to civic advocacy, he has contributed to various causes in his community, including the American Red Cross as a mental health chairperson volunteer, a Sarpy County court appointed special advocate volunteer, an HIV educator, and a member of a mental health professionals group that identify the mental health problems in the community and assist with refugee behavioral health.
Among his professional accomplishments, Mr. Ajuoga is most proud of achieving all of his accolades and of his work during Hurricane Katrina, where he assisted the American medical crews as a mental health leader and volunteer. He attributes much of his success to his empathy, gifted listening skills and love for helping people. Looking toward the future, Mr. Ajuoga aspires to help more people who are suffering from mental health illnesses, especially the underprivileged.
