NEW WINDSOR, NY, August 05, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Ronnie Landfield has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
With specialties in Lyrical Abstraction, Color Field painting and Abstract Expressionism, Mr. Landfield has distinguished himself as a skilled artist for more than 55 years. Born and raised in the Bronx, he spent a great deal of time visiting art galleries and museums in New York City, honing his skills and gaining the knowledge needed to support his passion as an artist.
Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Mr. Landfield studied at the Kansas City Art Institute in 1963 and the San Francisco Art Institute in 1965. Following his academic accomplishments, he began his career as an artist and first exhibited his work in contemporary art galleries in New York City in 1967 and at the Whitney Museum of American Art annual. His work was also included in the museum's annual in 1969 and the first biennial in 1973. Mr. Landfield subsequently showed his work with the David Whitney Gallery in 1969. He was later represented by the Andre Emmerich Gallery and several other contemporary galleries throughout the United States. His work is in the permanent collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Norton Simon Museum, the Bavarian State Museum, the Art Institute of Chicago, the National Gallery, and many other important institutions. He is presently represented by Findlay Galleries.
In recognition of his excellent work, Mr. Landfield has been honored with numerous awards. Most recently, he was awarded a lifetime achievement award at the Hamptons Fine Art Fair in 2022. He first won a gold medal for his painting from the San Francisco Art Institute in 1965 and was subsequently bestowed with the William and Noma Copley (Cassandra) Foundation Award for Art in 1968. He also received a national endowment for the arts from the Clayworks Studio Workshop in 1983 and several artist fellowship grants. In addition, he was awarded two Pollock/Krasner Foundation grants. In 2012, Mr. Landfield received grants from the Joan Mitchell Foundation and a third grant from the Pollock/Krasner Foundation.
In addition to his work as an artist, Mr. Landfield lends his expertise as a teacher. He taught fine arts for the School of Visual Arts from 1975 to 1990. Since 1994, he has been teaching painting and drawing at the Art Students League of New York. Looking toward the future, he intends to continue working with young artists, helping them through difficult times so they can become successful in the future. He also plans to continue exhibiting his artwork across the country.
