After beginning her career as a teacher at Cokato Elementary School in 1962, Ms. Larson served as a teacher at Lakeview Elementary School between 1964 and 1966, a vocal teacher at Wheaton High School from 1966 until 1967 and a teacher at Owatonna Elementary School from 1967 to 1988. Exhibiting a commitment to her field, she advanced to principal at the latter institution, working in this capacity from 1988 until 1998, and served as a reading specialist until her retirement in 2008. In her teaching, Ms. Larson demonstrated expertise in language arts, literature, grammar and reading. To commemorate her accomplishments, she was named Woman of the Year by the Owatonna Business and Professional Women's group in 1990.
Determined to enrich the lives of students, parents and other educators, Ms. Larson developed an interest in education at a young age. Prior to embarking upon her professional journey, she earned a Bachelor of Science from Valley City State University in 1964, followed by a Master of Science from Mankato State University in 1977. To further her expertise, Ms. Larson subsequently earned an Education Specialist degree from the University of Minnesota in 1987. Demonstrating professional commitment, Ms. Larson has likewise been certified in her state as a teacher and a principal.
Celebrated for her focus and achievements in her field, Ms. Larson was selected to the board of directors in affiliation with both the National Education Institute and the International Literacy Association.
