A former military serviceman with the United States Navy, Mr. Miller began his career in professional aquatics. He earned an Associate of Science in marine science from the College of Oceaneering in Wilmington, California, and pursued continued education in liberal arts, mathematics, and science at Long Beach City College. Subsequently, he worked as a commercial deep-sea diver, however this service was interrupted by the introduction of robotic technology and AI which quickly affected his position. For the next 25 years, Mr. Miller excelled as a pipeline construction supervisor with the City of Long Beach. In 2012, Mr. Miller took an early retirement option, which allowed him to pursue a passion for the arts.
In 2018, Mr. Miller joined Fine Film Photography, a firm for which he photographed high-quality images for various print and digital products. As part of his role, he edited, toned, captioned, and uploaded photographs for publications, tracked inventory, digitally edited photos, and consulted with clients about commissions. Drawing on years of professional experience in the arts and management, he presently serves as the General Director of Fine Art and Film Photography. Since joining the company in 2019, he has maintained a productive and professional work environment and saved the firm $10,000 annually by implementing cost-saving initiatives. In his years as a visual artist, Mr. Miller has worked with acrylic paints and mixed media in addition to his work in photography.
Civically involved, Mr. Miller has been honored by Long Beach Mayors Ernie Kell and Robert Foster and the California State Legislature. Mr. Miller was awarded the Community Service Award from Long Beach Fire for saving the life of man severely injured in a traffic accident. Mr. Miller contributes to Toastmasters International. For his professional accomplishments, he was honored twice with the Talent Prize Award at Art Show International, a Special Recognition for Excellence in Art from the 11th Figurative Exhibition Light Space & Time Gallery, and a Third Place Award at the Annual Photography Competition of the Los Angeles Underwater Photographic Society. Similarly, he was recognized in Photographers Forum Magazine several times as well as Artist Portfolio Magazine and Circle Quarterly Art Review Magazine. Though his career has been filled with highlights, Mr. Miller is most proud of raising three wonderful children.
