Established in 2008, his organization consults and provides engineering services to the metal and recycling industry, mainly in the non-ferrous metal sector. In addition to providing assistance in creating and executing integrated strategies to help clients grow and advance their business, Dr. Siegmund offers assessments and commission assistance for plants and services for companies that are seeking to improve their operations. Looking toward the future, he aims to continue expanding his business, while also continually gaining more experience as a leader in the field.
Throughout the course of his career in the industry, Dr. Siegmund has garnered extensive expertise in several high-level positions. Among them, he functioned as the managing partner of Mettop USA LLC, the senior vice president of process technology of Gas Cleaning Technologies LLC, and the president of Quemetco Metals Ltd. Dr. Siegmund has also served on several business societies and technical advisory boards. He attributes his ongoing success to his diverse experience and his ability to network with like-minded individuals from all over the world.
After earning his undergraduate degree, Dr. Siegmund pursued a Master of Science and a Doctor of Philosophy in metallurgical engineering at the Technical University of Berlin, graduating in 1985 and 1989, respectively. He is also a qualified professional through the Mining and Metallurgical Society of America.
To remain aware of developments in his field, Dr. Siegmund is a prominent member of the Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration, the Mining and Metallurgical Society of America, and Gesellschaft Deutscher Metallurgen und Bergbau. He has also been very active with the Minerals, Metals and Materials Society (TMS) as the former chair of the lead and zinc committee and programming representative for the EDP council and as EDP awards committee chair. He served as Chairman of the Pb-Zn 2010 and Pb-Zn 2020 conferences, which is the primary conference for this industry devoted to the theory and practice of zinc and lead extractive metallurgy and organized by multiple metallurgical societies worldwide every 5 years. For his contributions, the TMS notably recognized Dr. Siegmund with a Distinguished Service Award in 2021.
