With more than 30 years of excellence to his credit as an association executive, Mr. Manderson is dedicated to making a positive difference as a leader in his field. Prior to embarking on his professional journey, he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in marketing from the George Washington University in 1985. Following his graduation, he became a trainee with the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) in 1988 and became an assistant manager for the central Indiana chapter of the NECA for five years.
Mr. Manderson transitioned to work as the manager for the North and Northeast Texas chapters until becoming the executive director for the North Texas chapter in 1999. During his tenure with the NECA, he also became a master trustee for the Employee Retirement Income Security Act funds for the IBEW 292 Benefit funds and the South Central Minnesota Benefit funds.
In 2013, Mr. Manderson was promoted to the executive director of the Minneapolis Chapter for the NECA. He specializes in labor relations, contract negotiations and dispute resolutions, enforcing contracts as necessary. He also bears a great deal of expertise working in government affairs, ensuring all work is done safely and providing education. Over the course of his career, he has built a network with chapter managers across the country, receiving support from their national office, which helped to facilitate his growth in his position. In recognition of his excellent work with the NECA, he was honored with a Distinguished Chapter Executive Award and was inducted to the Academy of Electrical Contracting.
Mr. Manderson strives to collaborate actively and freely with his colleagues, including his staff and trainees, valuing everyone's contributions and ideas to bring forth the best possible results and support his own professional development. Additionally, due to his partnership with the local unions, the business is also able to provide trainees with access to all their meetings, which gives the business exposure regarding how chapter managers work with their partners. In dedication to developing diversity and inclusion initiatives for the NECA, he also mentors through his chapter's Empowering Women Mentorship Program.
Currently, Mr. Manderson is working on reinvigorating the Minneapolis chapter, as he finds the chapter needs revitalizing work every five years to prevent stagnation. Over the years, his chapter has cultivated a reputation for welcoming young contractors and keeping all members motivated and involved.
