A career diplomat with more than 30 years of service to his credit. He has been nominated as the Representative of the Government of Georgia on global economic projects in addition to his current position at the level of the Director-General of the Chamber for Trade and Industry of Georgia, having previously worked with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia. He also distinguished himself as the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia. In his present role, he works to attract investments to the country and boost its trade relations internationally, enhancing eastern and western partnerships.
Prior to his current position, Dr. Aptsiauri earned distinction as the Ambassador of Georgia to China, Vietnam and Mongolia from 2014 to 2018. He was also the Deputy Minister of the MFA and the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia. He has also lent his international expertise as a professor of international economics and foreign trade based on coooperation with a number of Georgian and foreign universities and research centers. Additionally, he has been a member of the Advisory Board of Georgian Analytics Center in 2020 and is involved in training courses for civilian groups on navigating the global economy and risk management.
After completing coursework in the department of international economic relations at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations, Dr. Aptsiauri attained a Doctor of Economics. Over the course of his career, he has been recognized numerous times for his work, including receiving a Certificate of Appreciation from the Government of Georgia. He was also nominated in Baltic States as the First Georgian Ambassador to Lietuva, Latvia and Estonia, but due to his academic background, he was better suited to work with China, where he remained for more than four years. He was appointed in all major parts of the world as part of his diplomatic career, including in the United States after an embassy was opened in Washington, D.C. in 1993 and he completed work on a permanent mission to the United Nations in New York City in 1997. His activity in the United States included the cooperation with Columbia University, where he, as an Adjunct Professor, led the first course of lectures on Modern Georgia approved in U.S. universities after the break down of the Soviet Union.
