Supported by more than four decades of professional experience, Ms. Guittar has dedicated her career as a dietitian to helping people improve their health and wellness through proper nutrition. Aligned with Bryan Health from 1993 to 2002, she utilized her training as a nutrition therapist to assist cardiac rehabilitation patients. She also worked with DaVita SOURCE as a dietitian from 2000 to 2007.
Ms. Guittar joined Hy-Vee in 2008 as a dietitian, medical nutrition therapist and wellness coach, and enjoyed a fruitful career with the organization until her retirement in 2020. During her tenure, she worked with individuals with food allergies, celiac disease, gluten sensitivity and irritable bowel syndrome. Through Hy-Vee, she provided health screenings, cooking classes and grocery store tours to teach clients how to manage their diets most effectively. Alongside her team, Ms. Guittar held media, classroom and business presentations to promote the company and its mission while working closely with physicians to prescribe special diets for clients with diabetes and heart disease.
To prepare for her career, Ms. Guittar earned a Bachelor of Science in clinical dietetics from Texas Woman's University in 1977 and completed 30 hours of postgraduate work. Well-qualified in her field, she holds certifications in wellness coaching and diabetes prevention. Additionally, Ms. Guittar was a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and the Nebraska Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
Ms. Guittar was awarded the Kids Eat Right Grant from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and the Hy-Vee One Step Grant in 2016 to support her work. These grants enabled her to visit junior high schools equipped with community gardens to teach cooking and help children learn how to make healthy meals utilizing the garden's fresh produce.
