FLORENCE, SC, September 01, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Carol Vance Edwards has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
With decades of excellence as a teacher to her credit, Ms. Vance Edwards is now using her skills and intellect to continue her writing career. After completing her undergraduate work at Bloomsburg University and earning a Master's Degree from Marywood University in Pennsylvania, Ms. Vance Edwards became involved with Lee lacocca's program to promote Economic Education in the Elementary Classroom, through Lehigh University.
Using the economic skill sets from that program, she initiated a course of study in her third-grade classroom to promote research skills by having students research the country of their origin. She then compiled the student reports and recipes from those countries to compile a cookbook, which became a "product," making her students entrepreneurs. Proceeds from this unique cookbook were donated to the Pearl S. Buck Foundation to help support Amerasian Children in the Philippines.
For this innovative work in economic education, Ms. Edwards was awarded the George Washington Freedom Foundation Medal for Excellence in Economic Education, which led to her supervisors and peers nominating her for the Pennsylvania Teacher of the Year in 1990.
Vance Edwards began her writing career in 1985, writing four cookbooks on the preparation of wild game, as well as being a freelance outdoor writer. She has since written her autobiography, "Adventures from the Edge, How a Quintessential Wife and Mother Morphed into a Free and Independent Warrior, Marching Through Life with Awe and Wonder," published by Fulton Books. Her second book documents the accomplishments of a leading philanthropist, " Jean Colarusso Fearless Friend of the Poor", Carol describes as an honor to write.
She is currently writing a series of children's books addressing bullying, teasing and not belonging, through the voice of a black Persian cat. "Andrew Christopher Edward," the first book, is now in the process of publication and has been endorsed by a leading child psychoanalyst.
Carol ended her educational career as the English Principal of the largest, private, bi-Iingual school in Guatemala. During her tenure there, she taught arts and crafts on several cruise lines, taking her all over the world, as an itinerant instructor. Cruising afforded her the opportunity to enthusiastically explore Central America, collecting the amazing experiences detailed in her book, "Adventures from the Edge" published in 2021.
For ten years, as president of The Bucks County Organization for Intercultural Advancement, Vance Edwards initiated a philanthropic program for supporting the public schools in Guatemala. This program is ongoing and one of the most rewarding in her long and storied career.
In addition to her children's books, Carol is currently working with the Life Enrichment Program at her retirement community, documenting the rich and full lives of the residents. These stories of lives well lived are cherished by the families and will hopefully be part of a legacy for generations to come.
