Recently retired, Mr. Amparado has been appointed Emeritus President of the Alumni Student Federation Board of Governors at State University of New York (SUNY) Empire State College. He notably served as board member, President and Past President beginning in 2011. Focusing his work on both administration and advocacy, he is also a member of the board of directors of the Shirley A. Chisholm Center for Equity Studies, which was founded to study slavery and colonialism, racial and economic disparities, and other inequities that communities face today. He has served on the Center's Board since its creation in 2020. Furthermore, Mr. Amparado was instrumental in the development and implementation of The Black Male Initiative, a program that continues to support and promote college degrees for African American and Latino male and female students.
Additionally, Mr. Amparado serves as a communications company executive as the owner and founder of KDA Communications. Established in 1985, he has excelled in technical and business writing, systems analysis and data processing by providing consulting services to the New York City Board of Education's Special Education Projects panel, New York University (NYU) Financial Systems Management and other leading organizations across various industries. Presently, Mr. Amparado has remained active as a consultant to the Siloam Presbyterian Church in Brooklyn since 1988.
During an earlier stage of his career, Mr. Amparado worked for several lending institutions, including the Franklin National Bank/European America Bank as a supervisor of data processing from 1974 to 1978, Morgan Guaranty Trust Co. as a systems analyst between 1980 and 1981, the European American Bank as a programmer and analyst between 1981 and 1983 and Manufacturers Hanover Trust as a senior technical editor from 1983 to 1985. Moreover, Mr. Amparado worked for the Center for Computing Activity at Columbia University in New York as a manager between 1978 and 1980. Mr. Amparado's father, who worked in the banking industry for many years, helped him secure his first position after college.
Long dedicated to civic advocacy, Mr. Amparado has been active with various nonprofit organizations relating to Alzheimer's disease since his mother's passing. He founded and continues to serve as the group facilitator of the Alzheimer's Caregivers Group at New York University since 2011. Mr. Amparado also volunteers by hosting speaking engagements and presentations and by conducting training sessions for CaringKind, a New York City Alzheimer's organization. Since 2000, Mr. Amparado has been dedicating a scholarship at SUNY Empire State College to the underserved African American male student population in his parents' names. Mr. Amparado also dedicated a simar scholarship in 2021 at SUNY Empire State College to the underserved African American female student population in the name of Shirley Chisholm. Mr. Amparado is also a contributor to the Black Male Initiative scholarship at SUNY Empire State College.
Prior to embarking upon his professional journey, Mr. Amparado received a Bachelor of Science at SUNY Empire State College. To further ensure his place at the forefront of his profession, he has maintained affiliation with numerous prominent organizations, including the American Management Association, the American Marketing Association, the Marketing Research Association, the Qualitative Research Consultant Association and the International Association of Business Communicators. Mr. Amparado is also a senior member of the Society for Technical Communication.
