Her next book on education in New York City is being published this summer.
WILMINGTON, NC, September 30, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Denise Hinds-Zaami has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Drawing on years of professional experience in mental health, Dr. Hinds-Zaami joined Transformational Healthcare Services as a psychologist in 2021. In her role, she provides telehealth counseling services for clients with anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorders, and various psychological challenges. Prior to joining Transformational Healthcare, Dr. Hinds-Zaami was a psychologist with the Broome Developmental Disability Services Office, New Life Progressive Health, HIRE Medical Center. She also served in private practice.
Dr. Hinds-Zaami has gained valuable experience as coordinator of the Bowery Residents Committee's Mental Health Scatter Site Apartment Program and an instructor at Hispanic International University, a faculty member in the Department of Education and Psychology of the University of Texas, and an assistant professor at Lock Haven University. Further, she was the diversity advocate for students and a counselor in the multicultural resource center at Pennsylvania State University. In her work as diversity advocate, Dr. Hinds-Zaami maintained reports for the university's 10 campuses that documented students' allegations of intolerance, hate, and bias due to their skin color, ethnicity, gender, national origin, religious beliefs, disability, and sexual orientation. While working for Pennsylvania State University, Dr. Hinds-Zaami was also an adviser for student organizations, including the Arab Student Union, Discussions on Women in Need of Encouragement, the Organization of Students for Justice in Palestine, and the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People).
Dr. Hinds-Zaami holds an Associate of Arts from New York City Community College, a Bachelor of Arts in psychology with a minor in sociology and education from the City College of New York, a Master of Social Work from Columbia University, and a Master of Arts in educational psychology from the University of Texas at Austin. Likewise, she completed coursework in social psychology in Brazil and received an executive EdD in educational administration from Seton Hall University. To remain current with industry trends, Dr. Hinds-Zaami maintains affiliation with the National and New York Associations of Black Psychologists.
Outside of her primary endeavors, Dr. Hinds-Zaami has contributed to her community as the creator and co-founder of The Moveable School and founder of The Healing Women's Circle and Multiheritage Family Resource Center. She has authored a number of publications, including "Reflections of My Life: A Book of Poems and Thoughts," "Our Family Cookbook" and "Diversity for Children Through Language and Song: The Yes, No, Please, and Thank You Book." Additionally, she has presented at the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and the 30th International Congress of Psychology in Cape Town, South Africa. While her career has been filled with highlights, Dr. Hinds-Zaami is especially proud of being a mother to her son and her adventures as a world traveler. Her next book, Enhancing Education for African American Students: New York City African American Educational Administrators Speak Out, is being published this summer. She aims to write and publish additional books.
