In recognition of her professional efforts, she received a Community Leadership Award from the National Honor Society, the Steel Magnolia Award, and the Distinguished Governor Award from her local Kiwanis Club. Looking forward, Ms. Hicks-Clayton aims to document her struggles and triumphs as a woman in politics and encourage minority populations to pursue careers in public service.
