SAN FRANCISCO, CA, September 13, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Allan P. Gold, PhD, with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Gold celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
A respected and seasoned district psychologist, Dr. Gold has worked on behalf of the Reed Union School District in Tiburon, California, since 1976. For the past four and a half decades, he has been instrumental in the lives of many students. Dr. Gold has also served as a mentor to many of his peers, largely thanks to his extensive tenure, devotion to the district, and professionalism.
As an extension of his work, Dr. Gold runs a group for children whose parents are divorced or ill, or those with siblings that have special needs, as well as individual and group counseling. Passionate about helping children of all educational levels understand the importance of being kind, he also frequently discusses with students why teasing and bullying are unacceptable. Among other commitments, he leads a local club through the district that teaches equity and acceptance, and established the Gender Sexuality Alliance, through which students can have a safe space to talk about their sexuality.
During an earlier stage of his career, Dr. Gold was notably an adjunct professor at his alma mater, the University of California Berkeley, from 1980 to 1987. Likewise engaged with his community, he volunteers with various organizations that support children. He was also the president of his local synagogue from 1991-1993 and was the chair of the Being Adept board from 2017 through 2021. This organization focused on educating middle school students to prevent and delay drug and alcohol abuse. Unfortunately, because of COVID the organization had to terminate, but Dr. Gold still educates students in his middle school on this critical topic.
Dr. Gold studied at the University of California Berkeley, where he received a Bachelor of Science in mathematics, summa cum laude, a Bachelor of Science in psychology, and a Doctor of Philosophy in educational psychology. He also became recognized as a nationally certified school psychologist. In addition to his psychology background, Dr. Gold takes ongoing art classes, with which he has participated since 1976.
Originally, Dr. Gold had planned to teach mathematics after college. However, while serving in the U.S. Army Reserve, he received training in psychology/social work and became fascinated by the field. Shortly thereafter, Dr. Gold befriended a man who was studying counseling and school psychology, which motivated him to change his career path and pursue school psychology.
As a testament to his commitment to the industry, Dr. Gold is a member of the California Association of School Psychologists and the National Association of School Psychologists. Recognizing his accomplishments, he was a two-time recipient of an Outstanding School Psychologist Award in the City of California in 1991 and 2017 and received a First Educator Award for Outstanding Educators from the Reed Union School District in 1994. Dr. Gold was also honored with a Rotary Club Award in 2014 for his civic commitments.
