Mr. Vance has distinguished himself as a filmmaker, writer, producer and director for more than 30 years. To prepare for his artistic career, he earned a Bachelor of Arts from Loma Linda University in 1978 and a Master of Arts in religion, with an emphasis in communication, from Andrews University in 1981. Following this accomplishment, he attained a Master of Fine Arts in playwriting from The Catholic University of America in 1988. After graduating, Mr. Vance embarked on his career as an expert consultant for the U.S. Government Accountability Office in 1991 and simultaneously worked as an associate professor and director of theater for Walla Walla University in 1992.
In 1995, Mr. Vance became a freelance writer and producer, after which he served as a judge for the Roy W. Dean Film Grant Judging Committee in 2007. After a year in this role, he became a professor and director for the film and television program at Pacific Union College. He also worked as a tenured professor for the department of film and television production, which he founded, at La Sierra University in 2012. In this capacity, Mr. Vance teaches three courses each quarter while working with various department committees.
A published author, Mr. Vance penned "De'Monte Love" in 2007, which was released by Visikid Books. As part of his dedication to film and writing, he is a member of the Writers Guild of America and has served as the president of Singular Entertainment since 2007.
Throughout the course of his film career, Mr. Vance has been honored with numerous awards, both nationally and abroad. He won a Panelists' Choice Award at the Edward Albee International Playwriting Competition in 1999 and an Award of Merit from the Accolade Global Film Competition. He was also selected by the Culver City Film Festival, the All Lights India International Film Festival in 2015, the Beverly Hills Short Film Festival in 2016 and the LA Shorts International Film Festival. Additionally, Mr. Vance was recognized as the Movie Maker of the Year and for the Best Film by the International Movie Awards in 2016, while one of his films qualified for an Oscar in the United States, a BAFTA award in the United Kingdom, an ACCT award in Canada and a Goya award in Spain.
Mr. Vance is dedicated to educating others through storytelling, as he believes it can lead to healing and restoration. Likewise, he hopes to connect his viewers to the deep universal yearnings of people across the globe.
