Since 2006, he has served as the physician and co-owner of Aishling Obstetrics and Gynecology, providing pregnancy care and performing various procedures, specializing in robotic surgery. Dr. Cassidy is also co-owner of Fox Valley Vein Center where he specializes in the treatment of varicose vein disease. His third business is A Beautiful Weight Management and Medical Spa where he sees patients for medical weight loss and cosmetic procedures.
Dr. Cassidy has been the department chair for Obstetrics and Gynecology for Ascension Mercy Hospital since 2015. He previously served as the chief of staff for Northwestern Medicine Valley West Hospital for two years where he continues to be an active Obstetrician and Gynecologist. In addition, he is an active member of the medical staff at Edward Hospital and Rush Copley Hospital. Outside of his primary career efforts, Dr. Cassidy serves as a national proctor with Intuitive Robotic Surgery and has been an expert witness in court proceedings.
Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Dr. Cassidy earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Bucknell University in 1993 and subsequently a Doctor of Medicine from Emory University School of Medicine in 1998. He subsequently completed a residency program in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Mercy Medical Center in Chicago, IL. Well qualified in his profession, he is board-certified in obesity medicine from the American Board of Obesity Medicine and in Obstetrics and Gynecology from the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He held a state medical license in South Carolina from 2002 to 2006 and presently holds a license in Illinois.
Over the course of his career, Dr. Cassidy has been featured numerous times in the press, including in "Thousands of Women Reporting Problems with Essure Birth Control" and "Essure Side Effects Lead Some Women to File Lawsuits Against Bayer." He has also published a study showing how his patients benefited from having their Essure birth control implants removed.
To commemorate his accomplishments, Dr. Cassidy was named the Most Compassionate Doctor by the American Registry and was voted chief resident during his residency program. He was honored with an award from Ascension Mercy Hospital for performing 500 robotic surgeries during his tenure. Additionally, he was admitted as a fellow to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
