Looking toward the future, Mr. Barnes intends to continue his stellar advocacy work, improving the VA system for veterans to receive the quality care they deserve.
AVONDALE, AZ, September 16, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Ricky C. Barnes has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
With more than 15 years of military service to his credit, Mr. Barnes has found success as a veteran advocate. Prior to starting his private career, he served honorably in the United States Air Force from 1984 to 1999. He received an involuntary medical discharge at the conclusion of his service, which inspired him to become involved with active military members and veterans who were questioning wrongdoings in the military and Veterans Administration (VA) systems. He himself found it challenging to receive the quality care he needed through the VA and began working in political activism through Senator John McCain's office from 1999 to 2014.
Over the course of his career, Mr. Barnes was instrumental in proposing non-VA care for all veterans and introducing the Veteran Resource Center (VRC) to the Phoenix VA Medical Center. He also proposed an additional clothing allowance for all veterans wearing multiple medical devices, a policy that was approved in 2013. The same year, he also participated in the uncovering of the Veterans Health Administration controversy of 2014. Furthermore, he proposed the idea to Senator John McCain to allow veterans to receive non-VA care, leading to the Choice Act of 2014 being signed into law by President Barrack Obama.
Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Mr. Barnes completed coursework and military training at Texas Southern University and Rio Salado College. He is also certified by the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences. In recognition of his excellent work with veterans, he received a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition from Senator Martha McSally.
Looking toward the future, Mr. Barnes intends to continue his stellar advocacy work, improving the VA system for veterans to receive the quality care they deserve. He also plans to become a public speaker, establishing a podcast platform through which he can distribute important information to veterans and military members who are seeking retirement. Additionally, he is working on a tell-all book about his experiences, continuing his fight for the rights of veterans.
