With more than 20 years of experience to her credit as an educator, Dr. de Gordon has found success as a professor. She is currently an Associate Professor at Neumann University. She has focused her efforts on being an innovative instructor that brings many dynamic cultural aspects to the classroom while conducting her own research. In addition to her main role, she currently serves as Chair for the Academic Policy Committee. She is also the advisor for HOLA—Hispanic Organization for Latin Americans, the Spanish club on campus. In the past, she was administrative head of the Foreign Language Department, a leadership role she committed to and served for four years. In addition, Dr. de Gordon is responsible for the successful implementation of a Spanish minor at Neumann University. She also spearheaded and implemented a summer study abroad program in Toledo, Spain for the students at Neumann University to enjoy each year. Furthermore, Dr. de Gordon has also concurrently taught as an adjunct professor of Spanish at West Chester University since 2009.
To remain aware of developments affecting her field, Dr. de Gordon is a member of the Association for Psychological Science, the Eastern Psychological Association, and the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages. She also serves as a member and reviewer for the National Social Science Association. Prior to her current roles, Dr. de Gordon served as an English professor at Neumann University, an English professor at La Universidad de Granada in Granada, Spain, and as an instructor of Spanish at the University of Delaware.
Prior to embarking on her professional journey, Dr. de Gordon earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Spanish Studies at the University of Delaware. She subsequently attained a Master of Arts in Spanish Literature and Pedagogy from the same institution. Cementing her expertise in the field, Dr. de Gordon received a Doctor of Education from Wilmington University.
To commemorate her accomplishments as an educator, Dr. de Gordon is certified through Quality Matters. She has received the Certificate of Achievement Award for Academic Advising, and the Convivium Recognition Award twice. She was nominated for the Teacher of Excellence Award three times and was nominated for the Growth in Scholarship Award five times. Dr. de Gordon has the prestige of being inducted into Delta Epsilon Sigma, the National Scholastic Honor Society, and Sigma Delta Pi, the National Spanish Honor Society. Looking toward the future, Dr. de Gordon plans to continue teaching at Neumann University, while serving her students and the community with her expertise.
