Tamika D. Holmes is most proud of expanding her nonprofit from a small entity which started in a classroom provided by the local church to a proficient organization with a building of its own.

Due to her experiences as a troubled youth, Ms. Holmes dealt with homelessness, hunger and poverty, which led her to want to assist others in similar situations. Along with her husband and several others, she founded Community Care Development Network, a nonprofit that helps families in the areas of family and life services, mentoring, education and community outreach. In addition to providing families with essential needs, including food, clothing and housing, the staff at Community Care works with parents, guardians and youth, and assists people in obtaining their GEDs and necessary job skills. Alongside her work with the nonprofit, Ms. Holmes is the founding owner of Divine Consulting Firm, a career instructor for WorkFaith Birmingham, an adjunct professor of business and human resources at Lawson State Community College and an independent consultant for First Sun Consulting, LLC.
During the early stages of her career, Ms. Holmes gained valuable expertise in marketing and management as partner and project strategist for All Things Business One Stop Shop, community workforce development educator for AmeriCorps and a pipeline risk management assistant and operations services assistant for Alagasco. Likewise, she worked with such institutions as the United Way of Central Alabama, the Virginia College Online Program and Holmes Marketing Firm, which she operated from 2013 until 2015.
An expert in her field, Ms. Holmes earned an Associate of Arts in office administration from Lawson State Community College in 2002. Subsequently, she received a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Master of Business Administration from Virginia College in 2005 and 2007, respectively. To further her expertise, she attained a master's degree in human resource management from Colorado Technical University in 2010. Throughout the course of her career, she also became certified in social and behavioral research through CITI Program and completed graduate work in human resource management at the University of Phoenix. Currently, Ms. Holmes is in pursuit of a Doctor of Education with an emphasis on organizational development and community at Marymount University.
To remain aware of developments affecting her field, Ms. Holmes is aligned with the Alabama Association of Nonprofits. Long dedicated to civic advocacy, she contributes to her community through the Community Action Fellowship, the Mental Health Coalition and the Birmingham Coalition for Student Mental Health at the Birmingham Education Foundation, as well as Precious Pearls of Promise and the Birmingham Society of Human Resource Management. To commemorate her accomplishments, Ms. Holmes has been honored several times, earning the UAB Police Dispatcher of the Year Award, the Pinnacle Award for Financial Planning, the Young Professional of the Year Award through the Birmingham Business Alliance and the Birmingham Society of Human Resource Management Board Member Award.
Over the years, Ms. Holmes has also been recognized as a Woman to Watch through the Birmingham Business Journal, named an Unsung Hero for the Beautiful Ladies in Hats by Alabama State Representative Rolanda Hollis and Congresswoman Terri Sewell, and won the Highest Community Service Award for Honor and Valor from the Birmingham Police Department. In a career filled with highlights, she is most proud of expanding her nonprofit from a small entity which started in a classroom provided by the local church to a proficient organization with a building of its own. Looking toward the future, she intends to open a grocery store and farm for the Community Care Development Network. Eventually, Ms. Holmes also aims to establish a school through which she can implement the Inspire Youth Development, Adult Literacy and Dropout Recovery Programs, become an instructor at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and expand her consulting firm digitally.
