Forrest Thompson Shines as the Owner of RT&T Machining Inc.

As the owner of RT&T Machining Inc., Forrest Thompson has been providing tool and machining services for clients for more than 40 years.

Prior to starting RT&T Inc., Mr. Thompson worked for another company, Kennametal, which made the same parts for 17 years. He started out tooling, and after gaining 17 years of experience, he decided to branch out and start his own company with only $15,000. Initially, Mr. Thompson wanted to have a couple of machines operating out of his garage to make extra money, but by 1984, RT&T Inc. had grown into a larger business that employed 25 people at its peak. The company now has 12,000 square feet of shop floor space, and 100 plus pieces of equipment.

Per the company's website, RT&T Inc. offers a wide range of services to clients, including repair of many standard tools, and computer-aided drafting (CAD) services to design and create new tools. Using industry-standard techniques, RT&T Inc. can create intricate tools down to the smallest detail, and to demanding specifications. One of Mr. Thompson's greatest strengths is his self-taught skill set. Whenever he needed to learn something, he would read about it. From there, he would put his lessons into practice.

Apart from his business life, Mr. Thompson is a devoted family man, as the husband of Ellen, and father of Tina, Kimberly, Tami, and Paul James. He has 10 grandchildren: Jason, Krystal, Brittney, Nick, Joey, Tad, Rikki, Robbie, Forrest and Parker, and 13 great-grandchildren: Lorelai, Preston, Easton, Rikki, Charlee, Harper, Grayson, Marlie, Joey, Jace, Jackson, Keagan and Katen.
