Her lifelong love and dedication to helping animals in need led Ms. Molina to establish a non-profit pet rescue where she has found success for several years.
She entered the workforce at a very young age and after excelling at several jobs of progressively greater responsibilities, she eventually landed a position in customer service for Florida Power and Light. In 1975 she was chosen as one of the first women to take the "Lineman" training, which had been, up until then, reserved for men only – she passed. She was selected for the newly formed "Fraud Department" where she excelled and eventually rose to the position of senior fraud investigator.
In 2008, she was diagnosed with a rare condition that has no cure, known as cerebral autosomal dominant arteriopathy with sub-cortical infarcts and leukoencephalopathy (CADASIL), and needed to go into long-term disability.
During that time, with encouragement from her friends and family, Ms. Molina became the founder for Coco's Pet Ranch in 2014. The sanctuary provides a home and veterinary care for hard-to-adopt animals, including senior animals and those with such disabilities as blindness or deafness. As the leader of the sanctuary, she helps to care for dogs, being careful to mind their backgrounds when they were used as bait dogs in fighting rings. She also works alongside her husband, who helps her accomplish everything from animal care to administrative tasks.
In recognition of her company's excellent work, Ms. Molina was featured on a short video by WEDU PBS in 2017. For this video, they were honored with a Be More Relevant Award from the station during the same year. A neighbor was inspired by her passion as well, and left $145,000 to Coco's Pet Ranch in her will, which enabled them to construct a new building with design features such as soundproofing, helping animals who become fearful during rainstorms. The doors, windows and roof are also designed to withstand hurricane-force winds, a yearly concern in Florida.
