Dr. Ambush is a prominent health care professional and business owner who has garnered more than 30 years of expertise in the industry. Recognized as one of the first pediatric nurse practitioners to work in a private practice setting as a solo practitioner in the state of Maryland, Dr. Ambush presently owns and operates Ambush Pediatrics and Family Medical Clinic in Halethorpe, a primary care provider that specializes in family medicine. In addition to treating patients, she manages the daily operations of her facility, which includes seven staff members.
Prior to establishing Ambush Pediatrics in 2014, Dr. Ambush garnered 20 years of experience in the intensive care unit and neonatal intensive care unit settings. She also taught higher education courses at Essex Community College and the University of the District of Columbia for more than five years.
Looking toward the future, Dr. Ambush aims to continue providing necessary services to patients throughout her community. She remains optimistic in her endeavors and looks forward to many more years of success. When Dr. Ambush is not busy seeing patients, she frequently mentors college students who either attend George Washington University, Coppin State University or Regis College. Lending her expertise to her local community, she has also held various speaking engagements at area schools and churches.
Dr. Ambush, who is of Jamaican descent and was raised by her Indian grandparents, immigrated to the U.S. in 1980. After graduating from high school and earning an undergraduate degree, she received a Master of Science, cum laude, as a clinical nurse specialist in maternal and child health at the City University of New York in 1992. Dr. Ambush subsequently attained a post-master's certificate in the pediatric nurse practitioner program at the Catholic University of America in 2013 and a Doctor of Nursing Practice at Chatham University in 2018. She also received credentials as a registered nurse and clinical nurse specialist.
Notably, Dr. Ambush had planned to participate in the pre-medical program at college. However, due to a seizure disorder, she chose to switch majors to nursing and found her niche working with children in intensive care. Dr. Ambush now enjoys serving as a premier pediatric provider in the state of Maryland.
To remain aware of developments affecting her field, Dr. Ambush is affiliated with the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and the American Nurses Association. Dr. Ambush is also a respected member of Sigma Theta Tau.
