MENLO PARK, CA, September 27, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to honor James Vincent Eade with inclusion in Who's Who in the World. An accomplished listee, Mr. Eade celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
A recognized master chess player, tournament organizer and writer, Mr. Eade has since taken on new challenges that entail giving back to the field at large. As the founder and chief executive officer of the Eades Foundation in Menlo Park, California, since 2019, his nonprofit organization distributes chess sets and equipment all over the world to the less fortunate. Additionally, the Eade Foundation offers chess literacy and notation to players.
Inspired to give back through the game of chess, Mr. Eade notably began playing when he was just 15. Becoming fascinated by the board game after watching Bobby Fisher win the world championship in 1972, his father began bringing books home for him to study, leading them to frequently play together after dinner. Mr. Eade subsequently attended a local college chess club and began playing against skilled adult chess players. First rated in 1972, he became a master just nine years later.
As a chess tournament organizer, Mr. Eade was most honored to organize the strongest chess tournament to ever take place in San Francisco's history. It was called the Pan Pacific International and was won by Viktor Korchnoi, a Russian chess grandmaster, who contended twice for the World Chess Championship.
Well-regarded for his insight into the game of chess, Mr. Eade published "Remember the MacCutcheon!" in 1991, "Chess for Dummies" in 1996, "The Chess Player's Bible: Illustrated Strategies for Staying Ahead of the Game" in 2004, and "Chess Openings for Dummies" in 2010. "Chess for Dummies" is one of the bestselling chess books of all time. Additionally, he was the editor and publisher of the CalChess Journal and the Golden Gate Chess News and the founder of Hypermodern Press. His book "Freedom: Your Path to Recovery" will be available in 2023.
Apart from his chess endeavors, Mr. Eade was a senior systems programmer and became a director-level manager for Charles Schwab. He left to start his own chess book publishing company.
As an extension to his chess commitments, Mr. Eade was active as a trustee and past president of the U. S. Chess Trust from 2000 to 2019, a nonprofit organization that serves to promote, stimulate, and encourage chess playing for intellectual development. He was also the American zone president of the World Chess Federation, was active as a Delegate for the U.S. Chess Federation, and served as the president of both the Kolty Chess for Youth Foundation and the Chess Journalists of America. Furthermore, Mr. Eade was a chess advisory board chair for the University of Texas at Dallas (UT-Dallas) and a board member for the U.S. Chess Federation (USCF).
Mr. Eade became active on boards not relating to chess and became especially well-known for speaking publicly about mental health and recovery services. He also became involved in Ananda Yoga, where he not only learned how to meditate, but also began learning how to transform from an achiever to one who helps others achieve their true potential.
As a testament to his work ethic, Mr. Eade received a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1978. He subsequently achieved a Master of Arts in human resources management, with a focus on organizational development, at the University of San Francisco in 1991.
Mr. Eade was recognized with a 2022 Chess Journalist of America Award for Best Chess Website. Previously, he received an Outstanding Career Achievement Award from the USCF, was named as the Chess Educator of the Year by UT-Dallas, was recognized as a FIDE Master, was inducted into his High School Hall of Fame, and received two Honorable Mention Awards for best interviews by the Chess Journalist of America.
