Seasoned by both experience and talent, Ms. Chen-Young is recognized for her expertise in design. Early in her career, she was a personal assistant and designer for ECRU Modern Stationer in Portland, Oregon. She also served as a freelance graphic designer for Manoosh and a junior interior designer for the interiors department and ACE/Healthcare Group on behalf of HGA Architects and Engineers. During her spare time, she volunteered for International Interior Design Association of Northern California as a graphic support committee member and also served as Co-Graphic Chair for the Interior Design Association - Sacramento City Center for many years.
Motivated by personal desire and experience, Ms. Chen-Young presently excels as an interior designer with HGA, a role in which she designs inclusive and welcoming environments with unique aesthetics. In the last few years, she has worked boldly to facilitate and promote a more equitable and professional environment in which her peers can speak freely in order to work as a team. In addition, she actively executes monthly design exhibitions and engages with vendors and local community artists.
Ms. Chen-Young achieved a bachelor's degree in interior architecture from the University of Oregon. She expanded upon her expertise by earning the NCIDQ certification from the Council for Interior Design Qualification and certification as an interior designer from the California Council for Interior Design Certification. To remain current with industry trends, Ms. Chen-Young maintains membership with the International Interior Design Association, Council for Interior Design Certification and California Council for Interior Design Certification. She attends various design conferences each year.
Ms. Chen-Young has been honored many times for her work. She earned the Chinese Flagship Full-Ride Scholarship in 2006 from the National Security Exchange Program and the Abrahamson Award from HGA in 2015. Ms. Chen-Young's career has been punctuated by highlights; however, she is particularly proud of her involvement with the design of the UC Davis Children's Surgery Center, which was featured in the Healthcare Design Magazine. She was also part of the team for the Adventist Health/Valley Children's Hospital, Family Health & Life Center which was a Healthcare Design Showcase 2020 Finalist. Looking toward the future, she aims to continue making an impact in the field of interior design and assume responsibility for even more ambitious projects.
