Romine, at 80, still works every day with couples who want to divorce with dignity.
NOBLESVILLE, IN, September 30, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Carol Romine has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Romine has had a variety of distinguished careers over the years, but the one that made her the proudest was that of being "mom" to her three children. Once the kids were in school, however, Romine began thinking about a second career. In 1976, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree, with Honors, from Indiana University Purdue University at Indianapolis. In 1982, having never worked in a restaurant, Romine started as a food server and, just five years later, became the General Manager of a multi-million dollar Chi Chi's Mexican Restaurant. After a ten-year run with Chi Chi's, Romine went back to waiting tables in order to prepare for her next career. In 1996, Romine graduated from the Indiana University School of Law and passed the bar on her first attempt.
Romine spent the next seventeen years as a family law attorney with Holt Fleck & Free, which eventually became Holt Fleck & Romine. However, she became convinced over the years that there had to be a better way for people to get divorced. Moving on yet again, Romine opened her own firm in 2013, now named Indiana Divorce Mediation Group, LLC ("IDMG"). Her goal was to develop a pro-se mediation practice that would result in a less attorney-driven process and a less adversarial, less expensive, and more child-focused divorce. The word "pro-se" means there are no attorneys representing the clients. Having achieved her goals through IDMG, Romine, at 80, still works every day with couples who want to divorce with dignity. In order to make pro-se mediation available to more couples, Romine is teaching other family mediators how to do what she does.
