KNOXVILLE, TN, September 30, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Lori M. McCarter, LADAC II, QCS, NCAC1, CADC, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Drawing on more than three decades of experience in the field, Ms. McCarter is recognized for her expertise in addiction counseling. She currently serves as the program director of Stepping Stone to Recovery, where she oversees a rehabilitation facility with more than 45 beds and manages 24 employees. In her role, she collaborates with staff to provide care for patients, develops programming and group activities for patients, and handles referrals.
Ms. McCarter became involved in her profession based on her personal journey with recovery. She began her career as a nurse, earning a vocational degree in Nursing from Lubbock School of Nursing in 1980. When the Cornerstone to Recovery facility was first opening, she was recruited to a nursing position there. While serving in this capacity, she discovered that her true passion resided in counseling, and earned an addiction counselor license in 1992.
Throughout the course of her career, Ms. McCarter also has held counseling and clinical positions with Brookhaven Retreat, White Spirit Lodge Inc., East Tennessee Human Resource Agency, Serenity Centers of Tennessee, and L&M Counseling. Well regarded for her contributions to the field, she has earned a lifetime achievement award and professional of the year award from the East Tennessee Association for Addiction Professionals. She served this professional organization as president between 2013 and 2014 and as president of the State chapter of TAADAC for Addiction Professionals from 2015 to 2017. Ms. McCarter is also an active member of the National Association for Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors, the Fireside Sobriety Circle and Alcoholics Anonymous.
Among her many career accomplishments, the highlight of Ms. McCarter's career has been training the next generation of professional addiction counselors. Looking toward the future, she is beginning to contemplate retirement, but plans to continue excelling in and expanding the scope of her current role.
