MURRIETA, CA, September 30, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Benjamin Scott Jr. has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mr. Scott enjoyed a fulfilling career as a program manager and senior ship manager for General Dynamics, a global aerospace and defense company, a position he held from 1987 to his retirement in 2021. In this capacity, he managed more than 40 U.S. Navy ships over the course of his career, collaborating with government experts and various tradesmen to manage overhaul, a complex and extensive process that involves overseeing the general maintenance, renovation and modernization of a ship on a frequently strict timeline.
Before joining General Dynamics, Mr. Scott gained experience as a petty officer first class in the U.S. Navy, where he served for nearly eight years as an electronics technician. While he excelled in the navy, he decided to pursue a career in the private sector to spend more time with his growing family. This led Mr. Scott to apply for a job as an electronic technician; he was soon promoted to the role of a quality assurance inspector.
In reflecting on his career experiences, Mr. Scott credits his success to his upbringing, which instilled in him a strong work ethic. These values were a tremendous benefit over the long days required in his position as a ship manager; it was critically important that he be the first and last person on his ship each day. Additionally, he excelled at building relationships with his management team and enjoyed a strong bond with the sailors.
Mr. Scott received a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Phoenix, and he received commendations for 25 and 30 years of service from General Dynamics. Perhaps his most influential recognitions came in the form of letters of appreciation from the various command officers of the ships he managed, including the USS Essex, the USS Bonhomme Richard, USS Peleliu, and the USS Boxer.
Now retired, Mr. Scott is active in running his family business; a sugar cane and soybean farm in Louisiana. He also enjoys spending time with his family, including his beloved wife of over four decades, four daughters, one son, and five grandchildren. Additionally, he serves his community as a member of the review board of the Sweet Water School District's Waterfront Academy and as an environmental cleanup volunteer.
