Jerald Preston Everett Honored for Excellence in Administrative Work

    CLINTON, MS, October 05, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Jerald Preston Everett has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As a human resource consultant with Jerald Everett Consulting, Jerald Everett turned his passion for helping people into a successful career.

Mr. Everett was inspired to pursue a career in human resources because of his desire to do things that people would recognize. He was encouraged to do well and he kept working up through the corporate ladder. He quickly established himself as someone who was able to quickly pick up responsibilities. As he put it, "You learn those functions that they need somebody to do, and you're ready to jump onboard with it and help them be successful."

Looking back to the start of his career, Mr. Everett had an opportunity to go to Southern Mississippi first. He had always been interested in working with people since he enjoyed being with them and helping them solve problems and so forth, so that much was natural. When the time came to select a career path, he chose public administration, and he knew then that that was where he wanted to spend the rest of his time.

In 1964, Mr. Everett earned an Associate of Arts in liberal arts from East Central Community College, following that up with a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Mississippi State University in 1966, a Master of Science in vocational relocation and community counseling from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1975 and a Master of Science in public administration from Georgia State University in 1977.

Mr. Everett started his career as a human resources consultant with the Social Security Administration, and he held that role for 34 years before serving as a consultant on a contract basis with the Social Security Administration from 1997 until 2005. In 2005, he opened Jerald Everett Consulting, where he remained until his retirement in 2021.

To recognize him for his years of service, Mr. Everett has been presented with a number of awards and accolades, including a certificate of appreciation for his service as a director from the Mississippi Department of Human Services Credit Union, a certificate of appreciation of outstanding service from the Southeast Association of Disability Examiner in 1982 and a service award plaque. Additionally, he was named alumnus of the year by East Central Community College in 2021.

In Mr. Everett's opinion, the most important part of a person's career is having a desire in their heart to be helpful to people, listen intently and be a force for what is right. A major part of his success has been knowing policies backward and forward, enabling him to explain them effectively to laymen and help them understand.

Apart from his professional accomplishments, Mr. Everett is proud to have a loving family, including his beloved late wife, Rita, his two children, Preston and Sonya, and his grandchildren, Nicole, Jacob, Nathan and Marietta. Now that he is retired, Mr. Everett hopes to do more volunteering and church work.
