Having accrued more than three decades of valuable experience in his chosen fields, Mr. Narasimhan hails from a truly multifaceted background in the realms of metallurgy, nuclear materials development, nuclear energy supply chain functionality, program management and manufacturing processes, among other areas of expertise. Presently, he serves as the senior consultant of the Energy Network, through which he has maintained involvement as a consultant specializing in energy supply and demand and sustainability and also working with SMR projects, Hanford nuclear Waste treatment and other nuclear plant maintenance projects in a consulting capacity. Likewise, between 2016 and current (2022), he has been working as a consultant with AMMI Risk Solutions Inc. (New name: Waymaker Resources) where he oversaw comprehensive aspects of nuclear program development, ascertained vendor qualifications and coordinated supply chain management. During this time, he also availed himself as a consultant with the Concurrent Technologies Corporation, NuScale Power, X-Energy.
Mr. Narasimhan previously worked in the nuclear energy field at AMETEK Specialty Metal Products Inc., where he served as their global nuclear product manager from 2014 until 2016. In this capacity, he expanded the company's market share for commercial and government nuclear projects, managed customer accounts and focused his efforts on increasing revenue by up to $2 million annually.
Outside of his work in renewable energy, Mr. Kris Narasimhan maintained involvement with the Westinghouse Electric Company from 2008 to 2013, directing business and supply strategy development. In this position, he oversaw supply chain management for AP1000, fuel fabrication and equipment for Nuclear Island & BOP-Balance of plant. He spearheaded the strategic procurement of nuclear equipment with a budget of over $3 billion for two units. Prior to this role, he worked as a global marketing manager for Kennametal between 2005 and 2007, and as a project manager at the Sandvik Tooling Corporation from 1986 until 2005. Using his wide experience and knowledge of materials allowed Kris Narasimhan to make significant contributions at Westinghouse Nuclear towards nuclear equipment forming processes including forging, extrusion, machining and other metal forming capabilities.
Well-regarded for his scholarly output, Mr. Kris Narasimhan co-authored two papers on the subject of the Ti-6211 steel alloy, which appeared in the Journal of Materials Science in 1996 and served as the basis of his master's thesis. He has also delivered several conference presentations and published his work on a variety of relevant topics, which have appeared in industry publications and several websites. Likewise prolific as an inventor, Mr. Kris Narasimhan holds a number of patents, primarily centered on Nanotechnology coatings, CVD, CVI, PVD and other surface modification technologies.
Prior to embarking upon his professional journey, Mr. Narasimhan studied at the Indian Institute of Technology, from which he received a bachelor's degree in technology and metallurgical engineering in 1978. Following this accomplishment, he attended Michigan State University, graduating with a Master of Science in Metallurgy, Mechanics & Materials Engineering in December 1985. Well qualified in his field, he holds certifications in risk analysis and mitigation, contract management, ISO 9001, nuclear technology training and project management, among many others. To remain aware of developments affecting his nuclear energy field, he remains active as a member of the American Nuclear Society.
To commemorate his accomplishments, Mr. Narasimhan received the Hadfield Medal for his outstanding work in metallurgy from the National Metallurgical Society of India in 1978, as well as a gold medal for outstanding metallurgical engineering. In accounting for his success, he credits his open-minded nature and enthusiasm for rising to new challenges. Looking toward the future, he aspires to make major contributions to the field of green energy technology and nuclear energy.
