NAPLES, FL, October 07, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Michele M. Poulos has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Drawing on over two decades of expertise in the field of academia, Ms. Poulos specializes in general psychology, as well as human growth and development education. Since 2017, she has found much success at East Coast Polytechnic Institute (ECPI) University, where she initially worked as an online program and faculty director for arts and sciences, after which she advanced to the post of dean of arts and sciences in 2019.
In the latter role, Ms. Poulos is responsible for overseeing all curricula within the department, to include 49 different education courses for all 17 ground campuses and one online campus. Her responsibilities include managing curriculum updates, third-party technologies, student transfer credits, faculty credentialing, scheduling, hiring, and training. She is also a digital faculty consultant for McGraw Hill Education where she presents at conferences and workshop, offers training and support to faculty, and collaborates with the McGraw Hill technology team to develop innovative and continually evolving digital content. She has authored assessment questions for their Introduction to Psychology video library and is currently working on authoring a Relevancy Module for their Introduction to Psychology class. Ms. Poulos also serves on several committees with ECPI University. One important committee role is planning for the annual faculty conference. She has presented to over 100 faculty on a variety of topics at this conference. Additionally, she serves on the Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) committee and has helped with the institution's SACS accreditation and re-affirmation. Prior to this role, she served as an associate dean of curriculum, and subsequently as a remote adjunct faculty professor at Independence University, from 2014 to 2017.
Ms. Poulos initially began her broad career at Dysart Unified School District in Phoenix, Arizona, where she served as a professional educator from 2001 until 2007 and continued with Scottsdale Unified School District from 2008-2009. Between 2010 and 2014, she garnered expertise working in a variety of roles at various institutions. The institutions where she was employed were: MGRM Pinnacle, an alternative high school, Maricopa Community College, and Grand Canyon University. At these institutions her roles were: professional educator, adjunct faculty professor, full time online faculty, curriculum designer and site supervisor. During her time at Grand Canyon University, Ms. Poulos was one of 9 individuals who piloted their online full time faculty program, which has proved to be very successful. She was also a personalized learning coach under a 20 million dollar grant to promote personalized and competency-based education, and a math interventionist at Charleston County School District. Following this post, she was active as an instructional literacy coach at Connections Academy of Pearson Education Inc. from 2014 to 2015.
Prior to embarking on her professional journey, Ms. Poulos pursued an education at Arizona State University, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in elementary education and teaching in 2001. She continued her academic efforts at Northern Arizona University, earning a Master of Education in psychology and human relations in 2010. She began work on a Ph.D. in psychology with an emphasis on cognition and instruction at Grand Canyon University, until motherhood intervened.
As a commitment to her field, Ms. Poulos maintains a K-8 teaching certification and is a certified higher education learning professional. Additionally, to remain aware of developments affecting her profession, she has been active with several industry-related organizations, including the American Psychological Association and the Grand Canyon University Center for Innovation and Teaching. Likewise dedicated to civic advocacy, Ms. Poulos contributes to such organizations as Compassion International and the Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Well-regarded for her contributions to the field, Ms. Poulos has received multiple awards, including the Curriculum Innovator Award and the First Year Impact Award from ECPI University to name a few. Ms. Poulos was also recognized by the USA Toy Library Association as the "Player of the Year" in 2020 where she advocated and shared techniques with early child specialists for cultivating and enhancing literacy skills with young children. Among her professional accomplishments, she is most proud of achieving a 90-percent average student success rate for her department as the dean of arts and sciences, in addition to meeting the department assessment goal for 2020-2021 in understanding diverse perspectives and cultures.
Reflecting on her career in academia, Ms. Poulos attributes much of her success to the outstanding support and guidance of her mentors and supportive family. Looking toward the future, she aspires to expand the scope of her career and hopes to continually gain knowledge and awareness of the technological advancements and transitions affecting the field of education.
