The former founder of FACE Architecture Design and Graphics between 1990 and 2003, she subsequently established Metropolitan Architectural Practice (MAP) in San Francisco as its founding principal in 2004. Working closely with her clients and talented employees at her office to achieve her professional goals, Ms. Lambert's portfolio of work notably includes the renovations and restoration of urban, rural and pre-fabricated architectural projects. Her work has been widely published in the architectural press.
While maintaining her architectural practice, Ms. Lambert has been involved with several significant renovation projects and legacy buildings. Restoring these structures and bestowing them with new purpose has stood as an enduring source of pride. Previously, Ms. Lambert garnered expertise in the residential, commercial and public sectors on several large projects.
As an extension of her career, Ms. Lambert is a professor at the California College of the Arts in San Francisco. Hired in 2001 as an adjunct professor of architecture, she was promoted to a full professorship in 2016. Ms. Lambert also served as the chair of the interior architecture program on campus from 2005 to 2012.
Among her many professional achievements, Ms. Lambert has notably been working on "No Place Like Utopia" for more than 20 years. An original collaborative research project that is now being prepared for a documentary film and book, "No Place Like Utopia" is the story of Gregory Ain, a 1950s architect from Los Angeles. Ms. Lambert has also become a published author. Among her writing contributions, she published an article in Architecture Magazine titled 'Dirt Manifesto' and contributed to Forward, a professional journal publication of the American Institute of Architects. Furthermore, Ms. Lambert has served as a critic and design fellow at several institutions in the U.S. and abroad, including the University of California Berkeley and the University of London.
Committed to providing her insight and expertise to benefit her community, Ms. Lambert has served on the board of trustees for the San Francisco Art Institute and Theatre Artaud. Ms. Lambert has also offered her services on a pro-bono basis to such organizations as the Tenderloin Aids Resource Center in San Francisco.
To achieve her professional goals, Ms. Lambert received a Bachelor of Science at the University of Minnesota and studied architecture at the MArch program in architecture and urban design at the University of California. To remain aware of developments in her field, she is a member of the American Institute of Architects, the Interior Design Educators Council, and the International Interior Design Association, where she has also served on the board of directors and as the co-vice president for professional development.
In 2019, Ms. Lambert received a Leibrock Fellowship for Universal Design. Attributing her success to her belief that design is a profession that can truly improve the lives of others, she remains committed to exceeding expectations.
