In this capacity, he is responsible for collaborating with the president and managing all aspects of the company, including, marketing, finance, staffing, sales, investments, strategic planning, customer and employee relationships, mergers and acquisitions and general administrative duties such as insurance, legal and benefit plans and policies. Prior to this role, he found much success as the president and chairman of Lowy Enterprises, a wholesale floorcovering and carpet manufacturing company that he owned from 1970 to 1994.
Mr. Lowy initially began his career as a design engineer at Monsanto Co. in 1970. Prior to embarking on his professional journey, he pursued an education at Washington University in St. Louis, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering in 1968, and a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering in 1970. As a commitment to his field, he has been active with several industry-related organizations, including the Penrose Businessmen's Association, the National Association of Floor Covering Distributors and the Retail Floor Covering Association.
Likewise dedicated to civic advocacy, Mr. Lowy has sponsored 35 endowed scholarships at Washington University, where he serves as a member on the corporation committee. Additionally, he contributes to such organizations as local food pantries and various charitable foundations.
Well-regarded for his contributions to the field, Mr. Lowy has received multiple awards, including the Alumni Achievement Award from Washington University, the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 1999 and 2000, and the Callaway Merchandising Award in 1977. Among his professional accomplishments, he is most proud of his five-decade entrepreneurship, the operations of his flourishing businesses, and his ability to overcome various challenges throughout the years.
