With more than 50 years of excellence to his credit as an educator, Dr. Strauch had found success as an adjunct professor of English for Illinois Central College. Since 1995, he has taught English classes, with a particular emphasis on composition and rhetoric. Prior to serving in his current position, Dr. Strauch began his career as an English teacher for Washington High School District 308 in 1970 and became the department chairman for Washington High School District 308 between 1987 and 2004.
Dr. Strauch served as a visiting team member for the Illinois State Board Education Teacher Program Approval Section in 1990 and from 1992 to 1994. During this time, he had also dedicated his service as a school bus driver for more than 50 years. Likewise dedicated to civic advocacy, Dr. Strauch has distinguished himself as an organist at his local church since 1978.
Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Dr. Strauch earned a Bachelor of Science in education at Concordia Teachers College in 1970. Following this accomplishment, he attained a Master of Science and a Doctor of Arts in English from Illinois State University in 1975 and 1986, respectively. Well qualified in his field, he is a certified English teacher for grades six through 12 and holds a Lutheran teacher's certificate from Concordia Teachers College.
Throughout the course of his tenure, Dr. Strauch has been singularly dedicated to educating students out of a passion for helping individuals achieve their dreams and imbuing them with a passion for lifelong learning. In accounting for his success, he credits the influence of his mentors, including the late Dr. Maurice Scharton, his professor at Illinois State University, and Dr. Janice Neuleib, the executive director of the Illinois Association of Teachers of English. He also attributes his innate persistence and dedication on behalf of students. Looking toward the future, Dr. Strauch intends to continue teaching for as long as he is able.
