For more than 35 years, Ms. Barnes found success as a secretary for several highly esteemed surgeons, cardiologists and interventional cardiologists. Prior to her retirement in 2012, she focused on performing a variety of administrative tasks for the Chief of the Division of Vascular Surgery/Harrington Heart and Vascular Institute, University Hospitals (UH) Cleveland Medical Center. During this period, Ms. Barnes also coordinated the Residency Training and Continuing Medical Education programs for the aforementioned Division Chief as well as the Chief of UH Cleveland Medical Center's Heart Surgery Center/Harrington Heart and Vascular Institute.
Ms. Barnes initially began her tenure at UH Cleveland Medical Center in 1989, at which point she was recruited as a doctor's secretary in the Cardiology Division of the Department of Medicine, for the Director of the Cath Lab. She subsequently served as a Chief's secretary in the Cardiothoracic Surgery Department for more than five years, where she assisted the Fellowship Training Coordinator and maintained the procedural database for the department. While working as a secretary for a number of invasive cardiologists, Ms. Barnes completed undergraduate coursework in mass media communications at Cleveland State University.
