As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

With more than 20 years of excellence to his credit in sexuality education and social work, Dr. Ingersoll has found success as an educator. In this capacity, he serves as a professor for the undergraduate social work department at West Chester University. Having joined the university in 2011, since 2022 he has focused his efforts on educating his students on the topics of human sexuality, sexual trauma and intimacy. His research focuses on how the fear of intimacy is created by past trauma in relationships. He also serves as an advisor for the university's Honor Society in Social Work.

In addition to his roles with West Chester University, Dr. Ingersoll has been an educator, consultant and curriculum developer since 2007. He is also the founder and owner of Helping Hands Books in Downingtown, Pennsylvania. He established the organization in 2009 to contribute funds to the development of youth initiatives in his community. Through this organization, he has raised almost $18,000 for local youth-serving programs through online sales from his bookstore.

Prior to his current role, Dr. Ingersoll began his career as a teacher's assistant while attending the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1999. He subsequently served as a psychology tutor until taking an internship with the Roswell Park Cancer Institute in 2001. The same year, he became a research assistant for Buffalo State College and a rehabilitation practitioner for the Restoration Society Inc. He continued his career as a research coordinator and English teacher with Dalian Medical University in 2002 and joined Central New York Services Inc. in 2003 as a supportive housing coordinator.

The next year, Dr. Ingersoll took a role as a program manager for Rehabilitation Support Services Inc. and later became an intake counselor and therapist for the Domestic Abuse Project of Delaware County in 2007. He went on to serve as a therapist for the clinical sexuality team of the Social Work Counseling Services in 2008, after which he functioned as a social work educator with Chongqing Technical and Business University in 2009.

Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Dr. Ingersoll earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the State University of New York College at Buffalo in 2001. Following this accomplishment, he attended Widener University, receiving a Master of Social Work and a Master of Education in 2009, as well as a Doctor of Philosophy in human sexuality in 2011. In recognition of his subsequent work as an educator, Dr. Ingersoll was named as an Outstanding Academic Advisor in 2018. He was also honored as an Outstanding Faculty Member by West Chester University in 2014 and 2022.

As part of his career in academia, Dr. Ingersoll has contributed a great deal of written work to the field, including authoring a chapter in "Healthy Ageing and Aged Care" in 2017, for which he won an award as the Best Tertiary Student Resource in 2017. He also co-authored "Sexuality Concepts for Social Workers," which was published with Cognella Academic Publishing Inc. in 2019 and is the first textbook in the United States combining sexuality education with social work practice. He also wrote "Like an Egg in a Bowl of Cherries: A Year of Adventures" in 2020.

Within the coming years, Dr. Ingersoll plans to finish writing the third edition of "Sexuality Concepts for Social Workers." For his own professional development, he is taking a course on ceremony development and the power of rituals in the process of healing – an area on which he hopes to focus in the near future.
