Mr. Rector brings more than 20 years of experience to his work as a broker and the co-owner of Witry Collective, a real estate brokerage offering expertise in historic preservation, commercial, residential and multi-use properties. Deeply knowledgeable about his transplanted home of New Orleans, Mr. Rector leverages a profound respect for the past, impressing upon his clients the fascinating and unique history.
Born in the Midwest, Mr. Rector studied journalism at Indiana University Bloomington and served as a corporate office manager for Global Investments Concepts for 12 years before relocating to New Orleans. Having recently entered the real estate field, he moved to the city in 2005 for the opportunity to work with his realtor, mentor and friend, Martha Ann Samuel. Within months, however, Hurricane Katrina severely damaged the city and Ms. Samuels tragically passed away. Adjusting to his new reality, Mr. Rector dedicated himself to rebuilding his beloved new city and to keeping his mentor's legacy alive. He went on to work with Gardner Realtors before cofounding Witry Collective with two business partners, Josh Walther and Katie Witry, in 2018.
A high-achieving salesperson, Mr. Rector consistently finds a place on City Business magazine's list of top real estate producers and as a New Orleans Metropolitan Association of Realtors gold and platinum award-winning, multi-million-dollar producer. He has been featured in New Orleans Magazine and Real Producers Magazine on multiple occasions and holds a historic home specialist designation from the Preservation Resource Center. In 2021, he was recognized for excellence in construction and real estate by New Orleans CityBusiness. Of his many career highlights, Mr. Rector is especially proud of his work helping New Orleans' transgender residents with their housing needs.
Now 63 years of age, Mr. Rector entertains the thought of retirement but knows he could never fully leave a profession he loves so passionately. He intends to remain active in the real estate field as a mentor and educator in the future. Outside of his vocational efforts, he enjoys cooking and spending time with his beloved dogs — Rudy, a soft-coated wheaten terrier, and Rufus, a rescue terrier mix — and providing them with an amazing life. A supporter of local charities, Mr. Rector contributes to Animal Rescue New Orleans, Take Paws Rescue, House of Tulip, and Son of a Saint, and volunteers at Preservation Resource Center's annual holiday home tour as well as Rebuild Together New Orleans "Rebuild" projects that assist homeowners with repairs and improvements to their homes.
