However, she followed her passion and garnered experience with several other organizations before establishing SMJ. Among these roles, Ms. Whitney was a broker agent for Midnite Express Inc. and a dispatcher for Primewood Transportation and Direct Transport. Additionally, she worked in several other industries as an entrepreneur, which significantly contributed to her ability to manage her team today.

Ms. Whitney is a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, the Ladies Auxiliary Veterans of Foreign Wars (now Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary), the Order of the Eastern Star and the Transportation Club. Additionally, she is a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the North American Hunting Club.
A native of North Dakota, Ms. Whitney completed coursework at North Dakota State College of Science between 1974 and 1976. Honoring her achievements, she was named as the Woman of the Year by the National Association of Professional Women for 2010-2011.
